What is Wordhoard?
Wordhoard is an offline word game for iPhone. It deals you a hoard of letters and you build as many words as you can before a 30-second clock runs out. It is out now on the App Store.
How do you play?
Drag your finger through the letters to spell a word and lift to submit it. Each tile can be used once per word. Longer words and rarer letters score more, and every correct word in a row multiplies the next, up to five times.
Is it free?
Yes. The free version shows adverts after some rounds. Wordhoard Plus, sold as a subscription or a one-off lifetime purchase, removes the adverts, opens every answer after a round, and lets you pick your scoreboard name.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The boards and the dictionary live on the phone, so every mode plays with no connection. The only online part is posting a Daily score to the global scoreboard.
Does it require an account?
No. There are no accounts at all. Your device makes a random player id, and you pick a scoreboard name.
What is Daily?
One shared board per day, dealt at midnight UTC in three sizes: 6, 8 and 9 letters. Every player in the world gets exactly the same letters, and each size has a global top-ten scoreboard. Your first finish is the ranked one.
What is Open Play?
Unlimited, unranked rounds that play fully offline. You pick the board size and the vowel mix, and nothing is sent anywhere.
How do Friend Challenges work?
One phone deals a board and shows a QR code that carries the whole game. Any number of phones scan it, and each one deals the same letters on its own. No account, no lobby, and no internet.
How is it different from Wordle?
They share one idea: everyone plays the same daily board. Beyond that, Wordhoard deals letters to build as many words as you can against a 30-second clock, plays fully offline, and adds unlimited Open Play and QR Friend Challenges.
What platforms does it support?
iPhone (iOS), on the App Store now. There is no Android or web version.
